We love our dog. Her full name is Laverne DeFazio Messer but she’s not into all that formal stuff so we just call her Lovey. She is very sweet and very quiet, which works great for us. Also, she just turned 6 this year and at just over 60 lbs, she’s, well, slightly overweight. But, this stands to reason. With three kids in our house there is ALWAYS some food either falling or being dropped on the floor. That’s when our self-propelled, self-powered, speedy, and portable “labra-vacuum” comes in and cleans it up. And she doesn’t miss much!
Well, like most dogs, just the mention of the word “treat” makes her droopy ears perk up. Then, like a laser beam, her eye finds the treat in your hand and the staring is on. Her focus is unmatched. The house could literally catch on fire and her eyes would stay fixed on that treat just waiting for the exact moment when it drops and she can gobble it up. I wish I had that kind of focus.
In Acts chapter 14 we see a great deal happening. The early church is multiplying. Paul’s ministry is flourishing. And the opposition is mounting. In all of this one thing stays constant. They remain fixed on the prize, the mission…on Jesus.
This is the text from with Pastor Eric will be speaking this Sunday. We are praying that God will encourage your spirit so that you will leave with a renewed focus as you carry the gospel wherever He calls you.
