Reflecting on Jesus' Words…On The Way to the Cross

How easy it is to succumb to the full glory that is due Christ while we celebrate His birthday. Then January hits and it's time to plan the New Year, start that diet and book the winter get-away. Before you know it, it's Holy Week and what have we done to prepare our hearts for Easter? Are we ready to come to the cross with sacrificial thanksgiving and humbleness in our hearts?

This Easter, let's make time to humbly learn from our Savior by reading His words – in some bibles they are the words in red. These "red words" pave the way to the cross. They teach us that as true believers we are to follow Jesus simply because we know He has the truth and His way is the way to live. It's our prayer that Jesus' words reveal to you why He is the way, the truth and the life. May this devotional time speak to you…On the Way to the Cross.

Week Three – I am the Life…

Friday 4/2:
Jesus is teaching in the temple again and portraying Himself as the Good Shepherd.
Read John 10:28
Consider these questions:
a. Jesus is standing ready with His staff, waiting to pull you to safety. What "lions and tigers" have been sneaking into your pasture lately?
b. What is required to receive this gift of eternal life?

Thursday 4/1:
Here we revisit the scene where Jesus is speaking to the hungry crowd He had miraculously fed. He is trying to correct their faulty opinions.
Read John 6:27
Consider these questions:
a. What is the "food" Jesus is referring to?
b. What "preservative" is needed to endure to eternal life?

Wednesday 3/31:
Jesus is teaching in Jerusalem – in the previous verses He has stated that He is God's son, which didn’t set well with the Jewish leaders.
Read John 5:24
Consider these questions:
a. Some days it's easier to believe Christ than others. What keeps you from truly hearing His Word?
b. Eternal life means living forever with God. Describe what that means to you.

Tuesday 3/30:
Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well and changes her life. The woman is struggling here to understand Jesus' concept of "living water." How often do we struggle to understand when we only need to believe?
Read John 4:13-14
Consider these questions:
a. What has Christ "sprung" in your life lately?
b.  Are your actions/reactions "welling up to eternal life?"
